Aldi is opening at Oldbury Green Retail Park - here's when the doors will open as 30 first customers are promised freebies
Aldi is opening its latest West Midlands discount supermarket in Oldbury Green Retail Park tomorrow (Thursday, June 12) - here’s what to expect when the doors open
Aldi is opening a brand-new store on Oldbury Green Retail Park tomorrow (Thursday June 12).
The doors will be open from 8am with Paralympic Gold Medalist Megan Richter joining the celebrations along with store manager Donna Galbraith and her team of 35 colleagues from the local community.
And that’s not all - Megan will be giving away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s famous Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.
The new Aldi store is also calling on local charities and food banks in Oldbury to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.
Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, seven days a week - details on how to do this are below.
Triathlon star Megan’s attendance at the much anticipated supermarket opening is a nod to Aldi’s partnership with Paralympics GB.
She is delighted to attend the opening saying: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of ParalympicsGB.”
Aldi says the new store will offer more customers access to Aldi’s high quality, low-price products. Last year marked the fourth year in a row that the supermarket has been named the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket by Which?

A spokesperson for Aldi added: “The new store will offer fresh, British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s award-winning ‘Specially Selected’ range, exclusive Beers, Wines and Spirits, and a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store.
“Aldi’s legendary Specialbuys will also be available in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday, offering extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.”
Aldi Store Manager Donna Galbraith added: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Oldbury Green. It’s set to be a special day and having Paralympic hero Megan Richter join us will make it a morning to remember.”

All about Aldi
Aldi is Britain’s fourth-largest supermarket with more than 1,050 stores and more than 45,000 colleagues.
The supermarket pride itself in 'making every day amazing and delivering the best possible value for millions of families throughout the UK and Ireland'.
It has been name the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket by consumer champion Which? (April 2025), and also the Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for 2024 — an accolade it has now won consecutively for the past four years.
Aldi says that it consistently racks up these awards due to quality, treating its suppliers and colleagues with fairness and respect, and consistently championing British suppliers, whose products make up more than three quarters of all items sold in stores.
The supermarket has highlighted its success to its commitment to Britain creating job opportunities, supporting local communities and strengthening investment throughout the UK.
A spokesperson added: "Aldi makes the everyday amazing. But amazing doesn’t happen overnight, which is why Aldi is making changes to be better every single day – to be fairer, greener and healthier for customers, society and the environment.
"Why? Because Aldi believes that everyone should have access to fresh, healthy, affordable food. It’s a right, not a privilege."
