Motorcyclist injured in early morning accident which closed main road in Wolverhampton for hours

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after an early morning accident in Wolverhampton which caused traffic disruption and diversions on the buses.

Emergency services were called at around 7.40 this morning (Monday) to an accident involving a car and a motorbike on Penn Road at the junction with Wynn Road.

The road was closed for a number of hours, with diversions on bus services 16 and 16a between Wolverhampton and Stourbridge

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "“We were called at 7.40am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike on Penn Road, Wolverhampton. 

"Two ambulances attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was the motorcyclist. 

He was assessed and had sustained serious injuries. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital under emergency blue light conditions for further treatment.”

Police are investigating the accident with a spokesperson saying: "The driver of the vehicle has been spoken to by officers and enquiries continue.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting log 756."
