Owners of beloved Coseley pub are appealing Dudley Council's decision to reject planning application to build a supermarket on the site
The owners of a pub who unsuccessfully applied to Dudley Council to change the site into a convenience store are appealing the decision.
The Old Chainyards, Castle Street, is set to be consigned to history as Red Oak Taverns took out a public notice revealing the pub will be replaced by a convenience store
Earlier this year more than 400 people signed a petition to keep the pub open and Dudley Council rejected the planning application. Tipton and Wednesbury MP Antonia Bance backed the campaign to save the pub from oblivion.
However, Red Oak Taverns took out a public notice this week proclaiming they are appealing the decision and taking the matter to the Secretary of State responsible for planning.

The public notice stated: "Red Oak Taverns Limited, having applied to the Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to conversion public house to a convenience store following the demolition of the single-storey side extension and erection of a new build extension to the rear of the site, utilising existing access off Castle Street, with associated parking.
"Therefore appealing to the Secretary of State against the decision of Dudley Council. Any owner or tenant who wishes to make representations about this appeal should write to: The Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN by 26/06/2025.
