Seven of the best fish and chip shops in the West Midlands, according to locals - including Dr Vinegars
As part of the annual national celebration of fish and chips, we've asked our readers to select their favourite place to go to get crispy cod and crunchy chips.
Today is National Fish and Chip Day, a day which helps to celebrate those who help produce the nation’s favourite takeaway.
The day celebrates everyone involved in creating the iconic British dish; from fish and chip shops, pub chains, restaurants, retailers, to the fishermen and farmers who provide the sustainable and natural ingredients.
UK Fisheries said that British consumers eat approximately 382 million meals from fish and chip shops every year, including 167 million portions of fish and chips, the traditional favourite, including dozens across the region.
But where are the takeaways that get the most love from customers? Which places do people recommend above all as their favourite place to get cod and chips, a saveloy, battered sausage or even a pie or kebab?
We asked our readers for their favourite places across the region and, as part of celebrations for National Fish and Chip Day, we can present the seven takeaways most loved by our readers.
These are listed in no particular order. If there are any others that you like, please let us know if the comments below:
