Thomas, or Arthur as he is better known, and Maisie Bennett celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary on Wednesday (June 4).

The pair, both from Rowley Regis originally, were travelling on the bus from Blackheath to Oldbury to attend night school when they met more than seven decades ago.

Maisie said: "My friend sat with his friend so I had to sit with Arthur and that is how we met.

"I thought he was very shy, very quiet. I went on the bus every week to night school. We left school at 15 and you still needed more education so this is what we did.
