Car smashes through wall and into house's front garden in Dudley - driver flees the scene

A car crashed through a garden wall and came to rest in front of a house in Dudley early this morning.

Fire crews were called to reports of a crash on Hollyhock Road in Dudley at around 12.21am on Thursday (June 5).

Crews attending from Dudley and Tipton stations found a car which had crashed into a garden wall and come to rest in the front garden of the house, with the driver nowhere in sight.

The car was made safe by the crews and the scene was left with West Midlands Police.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Fire Service said: "At 12.21am on June 5, a fire engine from Dudley, and another from Tipton, attended reports of an RTC on Hollyhock Road in Dudley.

"The incident involved one car which had collided with a garden wall and come to rest in the front garden of a property.

"There was no damage to the house, and crews made the vehicle safe.

"The driver had absconded from the scene, prior to our arrival.

"The incident was left with West Midlands Police, who were also in attendance."

West Midlands Police said: "We were called after a suspected stolen car hit a wall in Hollyhock Road, Dudley at just after 12.10am today.

"Officers attended but no-one had remained with the vehicle and no injuries were reported to us.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can contact us on 101, quoting log 34 of June 5."
