Compton Care will be running its first Cuppa for Compton Week, a weeklong celebration of baking, cakes, cups of tea and getting together with friends and family.

Running from Friday, June 6 to Friday, June 13, Cuppa for Compton Week is a chance to come together and raise funds to support Compton Care’s vital work providing specialist palliative and bereavement support.

A spokeswoman for Compton Care said: "Cuppa for Compton Week is taking place this June and we’d love you to join in.

"Whether it’s gathering your friends and family for afternoon tea, getting colleagues together for an office bake sale, or hosting something special in your community, Cuppa for Compton Week is a chance to come together and raise vital funds for Compton.

"Cuppa for Compton Week starts on Friday, June 6, National Doughnut Day, and ends on Friday, June 13, National Lemon Drizzle Day."

The Wolverhampton-based charity is also teaming up with Great British Bake Off contestant, Nicky Laceby, who will be sharing her unique twists on some classic recipes via her popular Instagram account, @nickybakesalot.

Throughout the week, there will be special offers at Compton Care’s cafes and coffee shops where customers can also take part in a raffle to win a fabulous hamper of signed baking goodies, while Nicky will also be judging a Compton Care staff Bake Off.

As well as supporting for Cuppa for Compton, Nicky has been helping the charity for four years, visiting Compton Care’s Inpatient Unit every week with her pets, including therapy dog, Bracken.

She said: “I am very happy to be putting my passion for baking into supporting Cuppa for Compton Week.

“Baking is such a wonderful way to bring people together, whether it’s gathering friends and family for afternoon tea, getting colleagues together for a bake sale, or simply treating yourself to coffee and cake for a good cause.”

Emily Thompson, Community and Events Manager at Compton Care, said: “We are thrilled to have Nicky’s support for our first ever Cuppa for Compton Week.

“If you enjoy catching up with friends, family or colleagues over a cuppa, why not host your own Cuppa for Compton event during the week?

"We are hoping that as many people as possible come together and bake to make a difference.

“However you choose to host your Cuppa for Compton, every cup of tea and slice of cake counts and together, we can make a positive impact to the patients and families we support within the local community.”
