The man was arrested on May 1, with officers enforcing a 'section 59' notice, which allows them to seize vehicles being used in a manner that causes alarm and distress, an annoyance to the public, and is used in an illegal manner.
The force said that the man had previously been warned about using the vehicle in an anti-social manner, including careless and inconsiderate driving, and that despite the warning he continued to do a wheelie without a helmet.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers from Cannock seized another vehicle at Tesco's Hednesford on 01/06/2025 under Section 60 of the Police Reform Act 2002.
"The driver had been previously warned for using the vehicle in an antisocial manner, including careless and inconsiderate driving that caused alarm, distress, or annoyance to members of the public.
"Despite the warning, the behaviour continued where the driver was seen doing a wheelie without a helmet — leading to today’s seizure."
The force said that the rider had also failed a roadside drug test, which also contributed to his arrest.
The spokesperson added: "A reminder to all drivers: Section 59 powers allow police to seize vehicles being used in a way that contravenes the Road Traffic Act (e.g. careless driving or illegal off-road use) and causes alarm, distress, or annoyance to the public.
"This legislation helps us keep our roads and communities safe."
