Firefighters also accessed the affected factory unit to check for fire spread but identified none.

A fire service spokesman added: "There were no casualties. Our initial crews left the scene at 8.24am. Around 10am a revisit was carried out, where a single crew identified and damped down further hotspots.

"The site was then left with the business owner, who was given fire safety advice and will arrange removal of the skip.

"The fire is believed to have started accidentally due to an unsupervised burn in the skip."
