Pedestrian 'potentially seriously injured' following collision with car in Great Barr
A pedestrian has 'potentially suffered serious injuries' after being struck by a car in Great Barr.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of Gainsborough Road, near the A34 Walsall Road Southbound, Great Barr, Sandwell, at around 3pm, to reports of a traffic collision between a pedestrian and a car.
On arrival, West Midlands Ambulance Service teams found a man, who was the pedestrian. He was quickly assessed and was found to have sustained potentially serious injuries.
He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for further assessment.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called shortly after 3pm to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian. One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival, we found a man who was the pedestrian.
"He was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital for further assessment. No further patients required treatment."
Road users were urged to plan ahead following the collision, with congestion and delays being reported around the area at the time.
On X, a roads watchdog group, West Midlands Roads, said: "Gainsborough Road. Road traffic collision on this route near the A34 Walsall Road Southbound.
"Expect congestion and delays in the area."
