First West Midlands Police Vaisakhi Sikh event branded a success
West Midlands Police's Inaugural Vaisakhi attracted hundreds of people from all faiths this weekend.
Hundreds of people attended West Midlands Police Inaugural Vaisakhi celebration which was part organised by Black Country Sikhs.

Organised by the West Midlands Police Sikh Association, The Vaisakhi at Tally Ho! event, in Edgbaston, on Saturday featured displays of the arts, demonstrations and activities including the Gatka martial art, and Langar – a community kitchen open to all for free.
The festivities commenced with the solemn raising of the Nishaan Sahib, a sacred flag, led with great honour by the Panj Nishaanchis and Panj Pyare (Five Beloved Ones) in a short procession.

West Midlands Police Chief Constable Craig Guildford spoke at the event, while partners taking part included Sikh Soup Kitchen, Langar Aid, Sikh Helpline, Sikh Women’s Aid, Sikh Recovery Network and Sikh Guard alongside Gurdwara Aid.
