Wolverhampton recycling centre 'temporarily closed' due to electrical issues on site

A recycling centre in Wolverhampton has temporarily closed today due to electrical issues on site.

Wolverhampton Council have announced that the Shaw Road Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC), on Shaw Road, Wolverhampton, has temporarily closed due to electrical issues.

The site is expected to be closed through the rest of today (Monday), with those wanting to dispose of their household recycling waste asked to use the Anchor Lane HWRC instead.

On X, Wolverhampton Council said: "Shaw Road HWRC is temporarily closed today due to electrical issues on site. 

"These are being checked, and it is hoped the site will re-open again tomorrow. 

Residents have been asked to use a different Wolverhampton location while the closure is in place

"We apologise for any inconvenience, and if you need to use a city HWRC, our Anchor Lane site is operating as usual. Thank you."

An anonymous source said the closure is thought to have been caused by a fire in the women's toilets.

Wolverhampton Council and West Midlands Fire Service have been approached for more information.
