Police arrest man near Sandwell over car key burglary and find wraps of Class A drugs

Officers got more than they bargained for yesterday when they arrested a man over a car key burglary in Great Barr.

Police noticed a 'suspicious' vehicle in Aldridge Road at around 1pm on Wednesday (May 7) which they believed had been involved in a crime the week before. 

After conducting searches, officers found a car key that they believed belonged to a stolen vehicle.

The key was taken to a dealership to be assessed and was confirmed to be for a car that had been stolen last week. 

After carrying out further searches, West Midlands Police officers found wraps of Class A drugs on the driver along with balaclavas and a bladed tool.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and possession of an offensive weapon.

He remains in custody for questioning.
