There are major tailbacks near the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, which due to the bank holiday has more visitors than usual.

The accident has forced the closure of the A38 in both directions between Walton on Trent and Alrewas near the National Memorial Arboretum.

The National Highways West Midlands Division warned motorists to expect delays. There are already delays of an hour due to the incident.

The organisation posted on social media at 4.30pm: "Traffic has been stopped on the #A38 southbound between the B5016 #WaltonOnTrent and the #A513 #Alrewas @Nat_Mem_Arb due to a collision.
