Person confirmed dead after police called to Perry Barr Railway Station
A person has been confirmed dead after police responded to an 'incident' at Perry Barr Railway Station.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of Perry Barr Railway Station at around 6.15pm on Tuesday, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
West Midlands Police Officers attended alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics, but tragically a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
West Midlands Police have now said that the death is 'not being treated as suspicious', with a report being prepared for the coroner.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Perry Barr station at around 6.15pm on Tuesday, 29 April following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Heavy delays to regular rail travel was reported around the Perry Barr area following the incident, with all lines to Perry Barr becoming blocked.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to an incident at Perry Barr Railway Station at 6.17pm, a paramedic officer, a MERIT doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic and the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.
"On arrival we discovered one patient. However, sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene."
