Wolverhampton teenager charged after police find crossbow, drugs and knife during search
A teenager has been charged after officers on patrol in Wolverhampton found weapons and drugs on him.
The 17-year-old was detained in Fowler’s Park in Park Village on Sunday afternoon (April 13) by officers who were carrying out operations in the area to tackle youth crime.
Drugs, a crossbow and a knife were recovered during the operation.
The teenager, from Wolverhampton, has since been charged with possession of a crossbow by a person under the age of 18, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of a Class B drug and possession of cocaine.
The teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, has been bailed to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on May 7.
A 20-year-old man who was arrested during the operation has been given a conditional caution for possession of a Class B drug.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Project Guardian has specialist taskforces based across the West Midlands, dedicated to tackling knife crime and youth violence. There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime in under 25-year-olds, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols.
