The planned increase of around 87 per cent for the rent on a garage across the borough has been communicated out to residents through letters sent out by Dudley Council.

The increase has been met with anger and frustration by residents, with Mike Taylor from Stourbridge saying that he and his wife Christine were being left having to pay the equivalent of an extra £300 a year.

He said: "We were paying about £33.35 last year, but that has now gone up to £62.40 for each month, which just seems excessive and unfair.

"The letter than came was for my wife, so she rang them up and asked why they were raising the price, to which they said that they hadn't put it up for a while, which I dispute as they put it up a little bit every year.
