Man arrested in Birmingham on suspicion of terrorism offences
A man was arrested and taken into custody after being arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.
West Midlands Police confirmed that a 47-year-old man was arrested at an address in Alum Rock on Wednesday (March 12) following a pre-planned and intelligence-led operation.
He was arrested on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation, breaching his notification requirements following imprisonment for a terrorism offence and breaching a serious crime prevention order and taken into custody to be questioned.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police have today arrested a 47-year-old man from Birmingham on suspicion of terrorism offences.
"The man was detained from an address in Alum Rock today (Wednesday) following a pre-planned and intelligence-led operation.
"He was arrested on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation, breaching his notification requirements following imprisonment for a terrorism offence and breaching a serious crime prevention order.
"He has been taken to a police station in the West Midlands to be questioned. Detectives are continuing to search the property."
