Three arrested in Birmingham after city crime spree

Three people have been arrested in Birmingham after officers stopped a car linked to various crimes, including the robbery of an 81-year-old woman in the city

The red Honda, which was on cloned plates, was stolen during a burglary in Warwickshire, and had previously failed to stop for officers.

It was driven past a Police Community Support Officer (PCO) on Orphanage Road in Erdington on Thursday ) and the officer was assaulted, but thankfully did not suffer serious injuries.

Intelligence also linked the vehicle to several other crimes around north Birmingham including: A robbery on Wednesday where an 81-year-old was assaulted and had her bag stolen'; The attempted robbery of a woman later that night and the assault of a postman on Thursday

The vehicle was tracked down and it was stopped in Erdington following a short pursuit.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault, and various driving offences.

They remain in custody and enquiries are ongoing.
