The town may now be part of the boundaries run by Wolverhampton City Council, but Bilston is very definitely a town on its own, with its thriving market and an industrial history that locals remain rightly proud of.

Bilston was known for enamalling from the mid-17th century, and is a former coal and iron mining district. Iron and steel works later dominated the skyline, but they are now gone and the area that once bustled to heavy industry is now being redeveloped into housing
