Man found in possession of a gun in Birmingham by police

A man has been charged with possessing a firearm after being arrested in Birmingham.

Wayne Geary was arrested in Birmingham on November 6 after being found in possession of a converted blank-firing weapon.

The 41-year-old was subsequently charged with firearms possession, as well as with selling or transferring a firearm, and appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on March 21.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We have charged a Birmingham man with firearms possession after a converted blank-firing weapon was seized in the city.

"Wayne Geary, 41, was charged with possession of a firearm after he was arrested on 6 November last year.

"He was also charged with selling or transferring a firearm.

"Geary appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (February 21) and was remanded to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on March 21."
