Man charged with breaching restraining order after death of Staffordshire woman

A man has been charged with breaching a restraining order following the death of a woman in Staffordshire.

Police were called by ambulance crews to Devereux Gardens in Great Haywood, near Stafford, at around 5.10pm on Wednesday (January 29).

A woman, who has now been identified by police as Philippa Lewitt, aged 46, was taken to hospital but later died.

Bryan Jones, of Rugeley, has been charged with breach of a restraining order, a Staffordshire Police spokesman said.

The 50-year-old appeared at Newcastle-Under-Lyme Magistrates Court on Saturday (February 1) and has been bailed ahead of his next appearance at a date and time to be confirmed.

A 24-year-old man, from the Stafford area, who was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, has been bailed with conditions while police continue with their investigation.
