Man charged with sexual assault after woman was attacked in Birmingham

The incident happened on Thursday in Cherry Street in Birmingham city centre. West Midlands Police tracked down a suspect and arrested him. 

After questioning, the man was charged with sexual assault and is appearing before Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Saturday).

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We have charged a man after a woman was sexually assaulted in Birmingham on Thursday.

"Alan Milburn of no fixed address, has been charged with sexual assault after a woman was sexually assaulted in Cherry Street."

The spokesman added: "The 42-year-old has been remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates court today."
