Willenhall man jailed after tool theft worth over £2,000

A Willenhall man has been jailed after stealing £2,500 worth of tools from a van.

Mitchell Baker, aged 28, of Dartmouth Avenue was jailed for 16 weeks at Walsall Magistrates Court this morning (January 9) after admitting theft from a motor vehicle.

It followed his arrest at an address in Cherrytree Lane on Monday afternoon on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and recall to prison.

Enquiries were made by officers in the Wolverhampton LPU into the theft of £2,500 worth of tools from Dilloways Lane, Willenhall on 23 September, last year.

A spokesman for Wolverhampton Police said: "A suspected thief has been arrested in Codsall, in connection with tools that were stolen from a van in Willenhall.

"Enquiries were made into the theft of £2500 worth of tools from Dilloways Lane on 23 September, which led officers from our Priority Crime Team to visit an address on Cherrytree Lane on Monday afternoon.

"A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and recall to prison. After further enquiries, Mitchell Baker was charged with theft from a motor vehicle."
