Attempted murder suspect remains in custody following Dudley stabbing

A man remains in police custody following a stabbing in Dudley that left another man with serious injuries.

An 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the attack that took place at the junction of Field Road and Birmingham Road in Dudley at around 2.30am on New Year's Eve. 

A 30-year-old man remains in hospital today with serious but non-life threatening injuries. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said at the time: "We were called to reports of a stabbing at 2.38am.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor, with a Critical Care Paramedic attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man. He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment." 

A cordon was put in place while police continued their investigations but was lifted at around 11am. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "The suspect remains in custody, and the victim remains in hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening."
