'I was the kid who'd cheer at school when asked to write a story - now I'm living my dream'
An author from the West Midlands has opened up about what it's like to live his childhood dream ahead of the release of his new book on December 16.
Kieren-Paul Brown, from Erdington, Birmingham, has nurtured a passion for writing since childhood.
The now 42-year-old claims he was always the kid who would cheer when being asked to write a story in school and that it was always his dream to become a published author.
Speaking to the Express & Star, he said: "My love for writing started when I was about four or five. I remember when the teacher would say 'today we're going to write a story' and that was always the best news I've ever heard. I would be like, 'yes, yes, yes!'
"But part of what fuelled my goal to become an author was my love for reading. Have you ever read a book or watched a film and it's like you've escaped to another world for years?
"The character goes on this epic journey for 10 to 15 years, has all these trials, and tribulations, and you're there with them. But at the end, you're like, 'oh gosh, I didn't just spend 15 years in this alternate dimension, I'm actually still on this planet called Earth.' That's basically is the best feeling to give to people."
The author recently announced the upcoming release of his new novel titled 'N-Word'. The story follows Antonia, an 85-year-old white woman who dies and is reborn as Kara, a 23-year-old Black social media model. As Kara, Antonia faces a world of online fame, danger, and unresolved pain from her past.
