The 20.6m pole would have been installed at South Staffordshire Golf Club.

The plans were originally refused by Wolverhampton Council in November last year but the applicant appealed to the Bristol based planning inspectorate.

The mast would have been delivered by Cornerstone, a telecommunications infrastructure company which supports Virgin Media, O2 and Vodafone.

However, the inspector's report, following a visit to the Codsall Road site last month, deemed if the mast went ahead "harm identified would be significant."
