A murder investigation is under way today after a man died in the street in Wolverhampton.

The man, who is yet to be identified but is aged in his 20s, died after being found badly injured in Merry Hill on Tuesday evening.

What we know so far

Police and paramedics were called to Chadwick Close at around 6.20pm but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cordon was put in place around the scene and police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Chadwick Close is a residential street containing high-rise flats and terraced houses off Leasowes Drive.

Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from the West Midlands Police homicide team, said: "A man has sadly lost his life and we are working to establish the circumstances around what happened.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information which can assist our investigation."
