Bosses set for standards hearing
Two senior city councillors are set to appear in front of the authority's standards committee over an alleged breach of the council's code of conduct
Former Wolverhampton Mayor Councillor Ian Brookfield and Councillor Steve Evans, the cabinet member for city environment, will appear in front of the panel in a behind-closed-door session tomorrow (March 28).
The two Fallings Park councillors have been asked to answer allegations relating to their behaviour at the city council's election count at Aldersley Leisure Village in May last year.
Mr Brookfield, who is a member of the standards committee, is expected to stand down from his position on the panel for the duration of the hearing.
The six-strong committee consists of four Labour councillors, Conservative councillor Barry Findlay, who is the city's mayor, and a member of the public.
Wolverhampton council - which prides itself on its commitment to transparency - issued a statement saying the authority would not be commenting on the issue as it was an 'exempt item'.
Mr Evans and Mr Brookfield both declined to comment.
