Man who tried to con Tesco with fake receipt is jailed
A man who attempted to con Tesco by trying to get a refund with a false till receipt has been jailed for 10 months.
Zafar Mohammed also stole a £400 iPad from Boots in the Merry Hill centre.
The father-of-one was spotted brazenly placing the tablet under a store catalogue before making a swift exit but was soon caught by police, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
Mohammed, who was subject to a suspended jail sentence at the time, was trying to raise money to feed his heroin habit, said Miss Rachel Pennington defending.
However, she said Mohammed of Peel Street, Dudley, was now determined to turn his life around and stay out of trouble.
Mohammed admitted fraud, theft and breaching two suspended prison terms.
Recorder Brian Bathia said he had little choice but to send him to prison as the Mohammed has been given clear warnings about what would happen if he continued to offend.
He said: "I have a duty to the public and immediate custody is the only sentence I can pass."
