Bespoke Community Solutions held a festive party at the Old School in Dudley Road, Wolverhampton on Christmas Eve.

And as well as holding their Christmas is for Giving event, they distributed 150 Christmas parcels, made up of non-perishable food items and toiletries, to people that are homeless, living alone or socially isolated.

Of these 150, over 50 were donated to the Feed a Family appeal with the rest going to organisations such as the Haven, Refugee Migrant Centre, the Women & Families Resource Centre and Families in Focus.

The Express & Star then delivered the food parcels to the Good Shepherd Ministry and The Well, both in Wolverhampton.

One of the directors of Bespoke Community Solutions, Manjit Cheema, said: "We decided to do something for vulnerable people in Wolverhampton.

"First we approached families and friends who have all donated towards the event as well as a number of organisations who helped out.

"ASDA and Aldi in Wolverhampton have donated bags which is very generous.

"We've found a lot of people at Christmas time are by themselves and a lot of people we work with are very vulnerable.

"And particularly the day before Christmas people are by themselves and feel very isolated and so to get them out to meet other people is important.

"To know that 150 families will benefit from the parcels is great.

"People are saying we want to make this an annual event and not even wait until next Christmas.

"Some people now want to do something on a regular basis, we just need to evaluate that at the end of this event. "

The Express & Star has been overwhelmed by the kindness of people across the Black Country and Staffordshire who have really dug deep to help those less fortunate.

Generous donations continued to flood in even after the last date of the appeal ensuring we could bring some last-minute festive cheer to the community.

In total we have received in excess of 9,000 items and every one will go towards helping families to put a much-needed meal on the table.
