Georgie Ann Evans died in a smash in Priory Road, Dudley, at the junction of Cedar Road, last week.

Miss Evans, from Himley, was driving a Ford Fiesta when it was involved in a collision with an Audi last Thursday evening.

A man in his 20s, from the Fiesta, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, to be treated for neck and back injuries.

Miss Evans was a former pupil at Kinver High School and staff have paid tribute to the 18-year-old, who they describe as a lovely girl and hard worker.

Police officers were called to the scene of the collision at 10.35pm.

Chris Rogers, headteacher at Kinver High School, said: "It goes without saying that we're very shocked and upset about what happened.

"She was a genuinely lovely girl who worked really hard and had a lovely group of friends.

"She enjoyed her time at school and did really well, she left with great GCSEs."

He added: "To hear what happened and the circumstances of it is truly awful for her, her family and everyone concerned.

"Our thoughts and sympathy are with her family and friends."

A tribute from the victim's parents said: "Our beautiful, kind-hearted and spirited daughter has been taken away from us."

Residents said the smash happened just before the traffic lights at the near to Priory Wines.

Flowers have been left by friends and relatives at the scene of the crash.

Sergeant Chris Ridge, from the West Midlands Police Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A young woman has tragically lost her life and we have specialist officers supporting her family at this time."
