A £9,500 Tour bike has been put on display at jewellers T.A. Henn, in Princess Street, supplied by Fred Williams Cycles of Snow Hill.

The bike is the same model used by Team Europcar in last year's Tour.

Cycling enthusiast and sixth generation jeweller John Henn, aged 54, said: "I have pretty much been cycling all my life and have just completed a charity ride to Abu Dhabi.

"I wanted to mark the start of the Tour de France in the shop and Mike Williams from Fred Williams Cycles has kindly helped by supplying the bike which can be purchased.

"It is extremely difficult to get these bikes because there are so few of them. But this one is the same model as used by Team Europcar last year."

T.A. Henn is also stocking the Tissot Tour de France PRC 200 – the competition's official watch – which costs £325.

It is Tissot's first year timing the historic race taking over from Festina.

The shop also has a range of cycling themed silver jewellery on sale which was inspired by the Tour starting in Yorkshire in 2014.

T.A. Henn was established in 1847 and next year celebrates its 170th anniversary.

Fred Williams Cycles, also known as Fred's, was established in 1950 by Fred Williams but is now run by his sons Mike and Steve, and grandson John.

The Tour de France finishes on July 24 with British rider Chris Froome looking to retain his title.
