Man in drunken rampage at West Bromwich pub
A furious customer went on the rampage at a pub after discovering his phone and cash had disappeared, a judge was told.
Azhar Iqbal accidentally left his jacket behind after a near five-hour session drinking rum and coke at the Billiard Hall in St Michael Street, West Bromwich.
When the 40-year-old returned soon afterwards he started to accuse other customers of being gay and pushed one of them to the floor, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
"The defendant then started grappling with another person, began throwing chairs, damaging two of them, and asked people outside for a fight," said prosecutor Mr James Dunstan, who added: "He was very intoxicated."
Mr Daniel Oscroft, defending, explained: "He accepts that he has a problem with drink and anger management and is rightly embarrassed by his behaviour on this occasion when drunk."
Iqbal from Coppice Street, Greets Green, West Bromwich admitted committing an affray on January 23 and received a 12-month community order with a 20-day requirement to receive advice on controlling his drinking and temper.
He was also ordered to pay £425 towards the costs of the case by Judge Kristina Montgomery QC who said: "This was drunken, aggressive and shameful behaviour."
