Pub shutdown after boy, 15, stabbed to death in street outside to remain closed

A pub which had its licence revoked weeks after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in a street outside will stay shut after its owners ran out of time to lodge an appeal.

The Puffing Billy, in Smethwick, was closed by police following the stabbing of Jamar Walker on December 20.

A 17-year-old – who has been charged with murder – told police he had been at the pub an hour earlier.

Its bosses were then brought before a council licensing panel last month where a decision to revoke the licence was made.

Other concerns, including loud noise and music coming from the pub, in Raglan Road, were taken into consideration.

Police licensing officers confirmed the decision had not been appealed.
