Visa issues delay brothers' world-record journey attempt
Two Stafford brothers have been forced to delay their attempted world-record breaking jaunt from London to Cape Town due to visa issues.
Physiotherapist Paul and brother George, a 24-year-old truck driver, were due to set off from Marble Arch in London at 5am this morning to begin their epic journey to South Africa, which they had hoped to complete in just 10 days.
The 10,000-mile route includes Morocco, Mali, Nigeria, Gabon and Namibia, which they were set to travel non-stop, operating four-hourly shifts to allow each other to sleep.
However, due to a delay in acquiring a visa to enter the Democratic Republic of Congo, the pair have had to postpone their trip.
Paul, 26, said: "It is so annoying that this has happened, everything else is ready, the Land Rover is packed up, all of our sponsorships are sorted, myself and George are both prepared mentally and now we have to wait.
"There may not be an issue with us getting a Visa but we just can't get a straight answer, so we will have to wait and take it on a daily basis.
"It is extremely disappointing and we hope this can get sorted as quickly as possible."
