Baby girl escapes serious injury after car overturns in Dudley

A six month old baby had a lucky escape when the car she was travelling in overturned in a road accident early today.

Fortunately the little girl escaped serious injury because she was in a child seat when the smash happened in Salop Street, Dudley shortly before 5am.

The Peugeot 206 was in collision with a taxi that was carrying two female passengers on their way home after a night out and ended up up on its roof.

Fire fighter Stephen Hunter from Dudley fire station who attended the scene with colleagues from Brierley Hill explained: "The baby and her father were out of the car and being attended to by paramedics when we arrived.

"It was very lucky the girl had been in a child's seat."

The Peugeot was badly damaged while the taxi suffered front end damage in the collision. Nobody is thought to have been badly hurt.
