Driver cut free through roof after crash on foggy M5
A motorist had to be freed through the roof of his vehicle after a serious motorway crash this morning.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was trapped for around 45 minutes after the car he was driving ended up in the embankment on the side of the motorway.
The crash happened in thick fog shortly before 7.30am on the M5's northbound carriageway just past junction one for West Bromwich.

After leaving the motorway the car smashed into two trees before coming to a standstill on the embankment.
Fire crews used specialised equipment to fully remove the roof of the car.
The driver was treated for neck, shoulder and wrist injuries, before being taken to Sandwell Hospital.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson Jamie Arrowsmith said: "Crews arrived to find a car that had travelled down the embankment at the side of the motorway and the driver trapped inside.
"Ambulance crews assessed the man before working closely with the fire service to free him, ensuring he was kept as still as possible at all times."
