One Direction and Wolverhampton's Liam Payne storm Birmingham in first of three dates
It has been a roller coaster year for Wolverhampton-born Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan since Zayn Malik's headline-making departure in March; but that did not stop the quartet from raising the roof at the opening night of their three Birmingham dates last night.

After all, this is the last time Directioners will be seeing them for a while, as the group is due to take a hiatus from next year.
The arena was packed with fans of all ages in One Direction t-shirts, faces painted with 'We Love 1D'.
