Ex discovered child-sex DVD
A man, whose former girlfriend found a DVD of children involved in indecent acts in boxes he left when he moved out, has been put on the sex offender register.
Darren Johnson, from Eastfield, Wolverhampton, had previously admitted possessing a number of category B and C images and one category A image, the most serious, when he appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
Ms Jane Sarginson, prosecuting, told the court that unemployed Johnson had been staying at the home of his former girlfriend in Telford, but that when he moved out he left some boxes behind.
"She looked through them and found a DVD which contained images of children," said Ms Sarginson.
"On the DVD there was footage of children as young as 10 having sex with other children aged up to 14. The police then seized his telephone and found an image on there.
"In interview he was asked about the images on the DVD and he said he had bought it from a car boot sale and that he had only watched it once and found it disgusting. He later admitted he had downloaded it."
Paul Smith, for Johnson said: "There is nothing I can say that takes away the seriousness of these offences. My client has lost his job as a result of these charges."
Johnson, aged 42, of Eastfield Road, was given three-year orders for the Internet Sex Offender's Treatment Programme, a community programme and supervision. He was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and was placed on the sex offender register. He was told to pay £100 costs and must carry out 80 hours of unpaid community work.
