Man arrested on M6 in Staffordshire after suspected stolen goods found in car

A man was arrested after suspected stolen catalytic converters and tools were found in his car when he was stopped by police on the M6 in Staffordshire today.

Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group stopped a Mercedes on the northbound carriageway of the motorway, near Stafford services, just before 5am.

While searching the vehicle they found a number of suspected stolen catalytic converts and tools.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Oldham, was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and theft from motor vehicle.

He remains in police custody for questioning.
