Cyclist dies in crash with lorry in West Bromwich
A cyclist has died in a crash with a lorry in West Bromwich.
The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
John Hawker, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: "Crews arrived to find a cyclist and a HGV that had been in a serious collision.
"Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man riding the bicycle and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
"The man driving the HGV was treated by ambulance crews for the effects of shock but did not require hospital treatment."
The crash on the traffic island above Junction One of the M5 in West Bromwich, happened shortly after 6.45am this morning and caused severe delays due to the closure of the M5 southbound exit and entry slip roads at Junction One, and the closure of the A41 Birmingham Road at the motorway island.
All roads have now reopened and delays are clearing.
