Young girl airlifted to hospital after Stafford collision

A child was airlifted to hospital today after she was in collision with a minibus in Staffordshire.

Ambulance crews were called to Marsland Road in Doxey, near Stafford, shortly after 8.35am.

The young girl was flown to Birmingham Children's Hospital with head and chest injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Suzie Wheaton said: "On arrival at the scene crews found a young girl on the pavement who had sustained head and chest injuries. She was treated by at the scene, and given pain relief and fully immobilised before being airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital for further assessment and specialist treatment."

She said the child's mother travelled on board the air ambulance with her, whilst the father was later driven to the hospital to join his family by an officer from the scene.

The driver of the minibus and passengers were shaken but unhurt.
