Armed police arrest Stafford man on suspicion of threats to kill
A man has been arrested and ornamental weapons seized after armed police and dog support unit officers were sent to a block of flats in Stafford this afternoon.
Police were called to the flats in Greyfriars just after 2pm by a member of the public concerned about a man's behaviour.
The area immediately around the flats was cordoned off for a short time to ensure the safety of the public and enable officers to carry out their work.
A 25-year-old man from Stafford was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and being in possession of a bladed article.
He was taken into custody.
A property was searched and a number of ornamental weapons were seized for a detailed forensic examination.
Nobody was injured as a result of the incident and police have launched an investigation.
Local neighbourhood officers have been carrying out high visibility patrols in the area to reassure members of the public.
