The assailant was with a larger group of men when the attack took place at 10.45pm Saturday, January 31, near to the 'red cage car park' in Navigation Street, Birmingham.

The attackers then made off towards Broad Street.

Following police investigations, five men have been arrested and bailed in connection with the attack. Police are appealing for help in tracing the man captured on CCTV.

DC Michael Wright from the force's violent crime team, said: "This was an unprovoked attack on a man in the city centre. At the time there were a number of people in the area who may have seen what happened, including passing motorists and pedestrians. I would urge anyone who saw this attack or anyone who recognises the man captured on CCTV to contact police on 101."

The man is described as Asian, aged around 20, wearing a red long-sleeved polo top with a diamond stud in his left ear.
