A 3G surface will be introduced at Riverway.
Members of Stafford Borough Council's decision-making cabinet has agreed to allocate more than £23,000 towards the project, which includes car park and ground access improvements.
The funding is from a previous planning agreement contribution to develop sporting facilities.
The club itself also expected to put forward around £50,000.
It is hoped the ambitious project will attract new players and ensure the club continues to grow. Work could start at the end of the 2015-16 season, with the new artificial pitch in place for the start of the next campaign.
