"This is a tragic loss and we offer our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

"Eni was a warm-hearted person and an able, enthusiastic and conscientious student. She was a very popular member of her cohort. There is no doubt that she will be truly missed by all who knew her."

The victim, who has family links to the Manchester area, was found injured outside a property in Cauldon Road, Shelton, Stoke-On-Trent after officers were called to the scene at about 9.30pm.

We are working to support the family of the woman and the injured male at this very difficult time with specially-trained family liaison officers."
