Power cut causes train cancellations at Birmingham New Street Station
A power cut has cancelled of all trains at Birmingham New Street Station.
The problems were reported at around 3.20pm.
Ged Burgess, spokesman for London Midland, said: "There has been a loss of power which has disrupted trains at the station.
"The loss of power is a domestic one which means it is an issue with Western Power Distribution.
"Trains are still operational but as lighting and information screens are without power the trains are stationary.
"Emergency lighting has also been activated."
A spokeswoman for Western Power Distribution said: "We have received reports of a loss of power at Birmingham New Street Station and our engineers are investigating."
The Network Rail Birmingham New Street account @NetworkRailBHM tweeted: "Power failure affecting the station currently, we've lost all lifts & escalators, CIS & lighting. We are investigating the cause currently."
Presenter of the BBC's Newsnight programme Evan Davis tweeted: "Ooh.. Big power failure at Birmingham New Street station. The trains are running but you can't tell where they are going."
