Firefighters tackle huge blaze near The Hawthorns involving 200 tons of scrap metal

A fire involving 200 tons of scrap metal has broken out near the West Bromwich Albion ground, sending a huge plume of smoke into the sky.

Four fire crews are tackling the blaze in Charles Street, near The Hawthorns football ground in West Bromwich.

The blaze has resulted in a suspension of trains between Smethwick Galton Bridge and Jewellery Quarter.
