The 19-year-old man was taken into police custody on Friday on suspicion of arson.

He has since been bailed pending further inquiries to a date in October.

Both buildings were targeted in the early hours of Friday morning after wheelie bins outside were set on fire and the blazes spread.

The Salvation Army building in Faraday Road was destroyed, with the roof collapsing.

Thirty firefighters tackled the blaze at the building used as a church and community centre.

Not Just Curtains in Crooked Bridge Road suffered some damage.

CCTV from a nearby petrol station next to the shop is being looked at by the police as they continue their investigation.
